These are the children of my best friend who is living in UK for two decades now. Whenever they visited Philippines, they stayed at my house in Manila. Dan and Mary can speak Visayan fluently although in British accent. I missed these two kids. They are so sweet and thoughtful.
I remember when we were at the mall, and we were about to go at a restaurant; the lights turned off when we were exactly at the entrance of the restaurant. The guard talked to Dan and said with the help of his hand, “sorry sir, no lights, come back next time.” Dan noticed that the man was having trouble with his English. So, Dan said, “Bisaya-a na lang Uncle, magkasinabot ta!” The guard was surprised, and he was laughing. He couldn’t believe it that a foreign child can talk to a Visayan language. Luckily, the guard was also from Mindanao. The next day, we went back again to the mall, Dan was looking for his new friend, the guard.

It’s good that they know how to speak the Visayan dialect ^^ I can just imagine why the guard was freaked out when he heard the young boy spoke to him. Akalain mo nga naman yun no? Tapos British accent pa. Hehe!
